TGC is currently working on digital investor platform for the Department of Environmental Affairs. This platform is meant to attract investors to invest in the Biodiversity economy. It is also meant to highlight the benefits of investing in biodiversity as well (Return on Investment).

SANParks ALL IN ONE DISC

The Guild was tasked to design an all in one disc for SANParks. This disc contains everything you need to know about SANParks. We found it very important to include an interactive of the 8 heritage sites in the disc as some of these sites fall on SANParks properties.

• Optimising the economic potential and developmental impacts (at all levels) of biodiversity

• Increasing wildlife/nature based enterprises, including through enabling initiatives by the state and the private sector such as improving access to finance, markets and implementing transformation initiatives etc.

Although the department initially proposed the development of a catalogue, TGC pro actively advised on creating a type of interactive digital platform. TGC believed that a static catalogue would not do justice to the programme, a recommendation to develop something that is multifunctional and interactive. The investor platform will describe the various pilot projects (in wildlife and bioprospecting) in detail, here TGC is highlighting things like location; livelihoods; opportunities; demographics; fauna and flora data; as well as some basic mapping. In other words prepare a catalogue mechanism that links directly to the potential investor exactly what they want to see and how it can match their objectives. The platform is user friendly to Tablets, PCs, mobile phones etc.

Digital toolkit

An extract from an address by Mr Lesufi in September 2014 explains further:

“We have finalised an ICT Integrated Strategy which focuses on five priority areas, i.e. connectivity, content, ICT Infrastructure and Equipment, teacher development, and efficient technical support and management. Five of our schools will be converted to a paperless school when the schools reopen in 2014. This means all learners from Grade 8 to 10 and their educators will each receive a tablet and every class will have an interactive board thus signalling the death warrant for the chalk, duster and chalkboard. Our ICT strategy targets township and rural schools”.

TGC has since been contracted to produce a multimedia version of the toolkit to embrace the the MEC’s strategy and digital age to save time, money and communicate easier and faster.
