Research Projects
TGC has was established A unit which support research in mining industry, adult learning, gender based issues but to mention a few. This one stop shop in research supports and enhances development in the SADC region. Independent knowledge for the improvement of the quality of life in general is generated through this unit. Various universities nationally work closely with this unit. The following showcases some of the work we did with the universities.
Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC): Sexual harassment project
In 2014, TGC was awarded a tender to develop, through a consultative process, a useful programme that will equip mine workers and mining communities to participate meaningfully in the issues that revolve around gender and sexual abuse in the mining sector.
Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC): Review the Handbook for Occupational Health in the South African Mining Industry.
The aim of this project is to transfer knowledge to the South African mining industry contained in the completed guidelines.
Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC)-Handbook on personal protective equipment (PPE) for Women in Mining
In 2015, TGC was appointed to develop a “Handbook on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Women in Mining (WIM)” by the Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC).
